We are thrilled to announce that Optimum Patient Care has successfully registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for our spirometry services (Provider ID: 1-18679752531).
This registration marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing respiratory care and supporting primary care providers in delivering high-quality spirometry services.
Supporting Primary Care with Comprehensive Spirometry Services
Our CQC registration comes at a pivotal time, following recent guidance from NHS England emphasising the importance of commissioning spirometry services within primary care. According to the latest recommendations, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) should not solely rely on community diagnostic centres but should also ensure spirometry services are accessible through individual GP surgeries, groups of GPs, or community settings. This approach aims to reduce unnecessary referrals to secondary care and address the patchy provision of lung condition testing that has been a concern for many years.
The guidance highlights the need for ICBs and primary care networks to collaborate in provisioning spirometry services locally, considering factors such as waiting lists and the need for community-based models. Restarting spirometry services post-COVID-19 has been challenging, but with our CQC registration, Optimum Patient Care is well-positioned to support these efforts and improve access to essential respiratory diagnostics.
Enhancing Spirometry Services with Additional Support
In addition to our spirometry services, we offer the following support to ensure comprehensive respiratory care:
Identifying Patients in Need of Spirometry: We utilise EMR data reviews to identify patients who require spirometry to achieve Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.
Identifying High-Risk COPD Patients: Following the CONQUEST Quality Standards, we identify high-risk COPD patients who would benefit from spirometry to evaluate their symptoms. [Link: CONQUEST | OPC Global]
Specialist Review and Diagnostic Interpretation: We provide options for specialist review, diagnostic interpretation of spirometry results, and management considerations ensuring accurate and timely diagnoses.
If you are interested in using our spirometry services to enhance respiratory care in your practice, please reach out to us at spirometry@optimumpatientcare.org. Together, we can ensure that high-quality spirometry services are accessible to all patients in need.
